Tips from a chronic pain recovery therapist

If you’ve ever found yourself hoping and wishing and praying that this time is finally IT! You’ve kicked chronic pain to the curb and it will NEVER come back… 🙏🙏🙏😬😬😬

I can totally relate.

And then… when the next pain flare crept up on you… did you brace yourself, hold your breath, beat yourself up for finding yourself yet again pulled under by the wave 🌊 of pain?

I’ve been there too.

There is no need to be ashamed of all the hoping and wishing and praying… it’s totally 💯 normal.

AND… it’s not the route to greater and greater ease and recovery.

Hoping that you’ll never EVER have a pain flare again is like hoping that you and your loved one will never EVER have a conflict again.

Not only is it unrealistic, but trying to perpetually avoid pain / conflict actually creates more tension… which can trigger more pain / conflict.

What if your goal was to support yourself lovingly through the waves of pain so you can ride them with greater ease?

Recovery isn’t meant to be a straight line. Accepting ourselves and our perfectly imperfect process is what allows us to learn how to ride those waves 🌊 with greater and greater self-kindness, confidence and ease.

And as we learn to ride the waves 🌊 instead of bracing ourselves against them, the waves, in turn, grow gradually gentler.
